Partner Insights: Gainsight’s Carol Mahoney on What It’s Like to Work at a Human-First Company

Carol Mahoney is a Chief People Officer at Gainsight and she has joined our partners at Power to Fly to discuss what it is like to work at a human-first-company and how to tell if you are interviewing for one.

“Everyday I try to keep a high kindness bar for myself. It’s easy to slip and I’m not perfect ” she says. “But just a little kindness goes so far, and costs so little.”

Carol has worked in the field of HR for many years, from small companies through Yahoo! to her current role as a Chief People Offer at Gainsight, which she says was never her goal.

Carrol is a great example of an innovative HR leader who has realized that the beating heart of a company are its people. In the very beginning when she joined Gainsight, she realized that the company culture there was different. It was "alive", as she put it. From holding round tables with employees to strengthening the company culture, Carol in on a journey to redesign the company`s performance process to be more human-centric. They abandoned the old dated model of performance management and created a new, more inspiring one that allowed different team members to  "achieve peak performance".
